Аннотация: Tourism today is a fast-growing sector of the economy, tourism, its accounting for 10% of world’s GDP, 7% of global trade and one in ten jobs. Hotel industry is a major sub-sector of the tourism industry, and one that accounts for a significant amount of resource consumption.
Eco-hotels are particularly popular in Europe and the United States, and the sustainability topic is one of the most discussed. However, in case of Russia, it lags behind the developed countries in terms of sustainability, eco-hotels are relatively new in the industry. Primorsky Krai is considered as perspective region for eco-tourism development. One of the results expected in 2020 from the program “Development of tourism in Primorsky Krai” is the creation of conditions for tourism systematic development, which implies the presence of environmental initiatives in tourism and hospitality industries, but there is no any eco-hotel in Vladivostok, the capital of Russian Far East.
This research was conducted to develop the hotels’ sustainable business strategy based on the foreign experience regarding to Vladivostok hotel market’s features. Implementing the sustainable strategy in the hotels of Vladivostok will allow hotels not only to obtain competitive advantages, but also contribute to sustainable development that influence and shape the future of hospitality business.
