Аннотация: "Handbook of Blockchain Law provides an overview of the key features and functionalities of blockchain technology in a legal context in a remarkably descriptive way. Blockchain has become attractive to companies and governments as it promises to solve the age-old problem of mutability in transactions. That is, it makes falsification and recalculation impossible once a transaction has been committed to the technology. The systematic and comprehensive approach set forth in this book, including coverage of existing relevant law in various jurisdictions with a particular focus on European law and US law and practical guidance on how to tackle legal issues raised by the use of blockchain, ensures a one-stop-shop reference book for anyone considering blockchain-based solutions or rendering advice for them"--

Аннотация: Designing Online Courts' provides a template for how online courts should be designed with a focus on end-users of the justice system. The newest phenomenon in the field of online dispute resolution (ODR) is the emergence of online courts. New online courts are radically different from traditional courts and this will continue. Holding great promise for end-users of the justice system, online courts can expand access to remedies, improve efficiency and lead to greater fairness and even cost savings. Nonetheless, there is a danger that the rush to digitization will compromise due process or the need for careful re-designing of judicial procedures. This book, focusing on ethical issues and key implementation topics, is the first to provide a comprehensive template for how online courts should be designed. It recognizes the need to adapt dispute resolution to a new environment in which constraints of space and time are lifted as cross-border transactions and instant communication become commonplace.

Аннотация: General Principles of EU Law and the EU Digital Order' addresses the role of general principles in the era of digitalization and the (potential) impact of digitalization on the theory of general principles of union law. Digitalization of societies has important ramifications for citizens and businesses. The digital landscape is rapidly changing, whereas at the same time there are growing concerns about how market access in the European Union?s (EU?s) digital market as well as fundamental rights can be sufficiently safeguarded in the shadow of?big data? and algorithms. This book presents expert analyses of how digitalization raises questions of the future role for general principles of EU law, including the foundational principles of the EU?s fundamental economic freedoms and EU competition rules.

Аннотация: Intellectual Property Law and the Fourth Industrial Revolution' analyses how the fourth industrial revolution changes the framework of intellectual property rights in the context of data, competition and compliance and how these changes can serve society. It is in the very nature of intellectual property rights that their justification and scope correlate with extraneous factors, such as societal perception and technological development. The convergence of various fields of technology is changing the fabric of society. Big data and data mining, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and blockchains are already affecting business models and leading to social and economic transformations that have been dubbed by the fourth industrial revolution.
